Side event to the 7th GSP Plenary Assembly
The side event is organized under the framework of the European funded H2020 Project, GROW Observatory, to discuss means to promote participatory governance at the national and regional level, and to assess the possibility to use a set of identified tools for facilitating the participation of citizens in policymaking outside Europe. By bringing together stakeholders from different countries and regions, the 7th GSP Plenary Assembly will be the perfect venue to address this issue.
For those interested to know more about the project and to give a further contribution to the promotion of participatory governance in Europe, a one-day workshop is organized at FAO Headquarters on Tuesday 4 June 2019. On that day, five components of the GROW Observatory project that could contribute to policy formulation and implementation, and to the reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be presented and discussed. Still, ways to overcome barriers to the use of citizen observatories for data collection and policy formulation in Europe will be discussed.
Objectives:
1. Discuss means to promote participatory governance at the national and regional level; and
2. To assess the possibility to use a set of identified tools for facilitating the participation of citizens in policymaking outside Europe
