Organization - Who we are
The SSS is embedded in national and internation structures and encourages communication between specialists.
The Swiss Soil Science Society SSSS was founded in 1975. Hence a structure that aims to promote the exchange of pedological knowledge was established. On the day of the foundation meeting, 27 members registered. These first members mainly represented the pedology research institutions. A few representatives of the authorities and the private sector were also present.
According to the society’s by-laws, the SSSS’s goal is to
- consolidate and spread pedological knowledge
- promote contacts and ties between people and institutions with an interest in pedology
- safeguard long-term preservation of healthy soils
